Review:
If laughter is the best medicine then we should all be cheering every time a book is published which slots into the ‘humour’ category.

Is it just me or is everything great ? By Geoff Tibballs certainly slots into that category and while he is a Brit and the ‘jokes’ have a British flavour, there’s still enough for a good giggle or even a belly laugh at times.

With a name like Tibballs, he probably had to turn to humour as a profession. There is no denying that he has a point. Geoff Tibballs thinks there is just too much moaning in this life and if we all just changed our view and saw the ‘cup as half full’ instead of ‘half empty’ we would all be a lot happier.

Try it for a day. Each time you find yourself moaning about something, see if you can find a positive. That’s what Geoff Tibballs did and he managed to find positives in things like wafer-thin ham, estate agents, health and safety, tattoos, rap music, cold callers, celebrity chefs, junk mail, fast food, cyclists, budget airlines and even wasps.

“Wasps are the psychopaths of the world,” says Tibballs. “They sting you for a laugh, just because they can. But does that make them bad. After all, bookmakers sting you, but you don’t go around trying to drown them in beer or swatting them with rolled-up newspapers. Not unless you’ve had a really bad run of luck. On the contrary, there is a lot we can learn from wasps. They have a strong work ethic, their queen doesn’t cost the taxpayer a fortune, they get along together admirably, they kill garden pests, and they carry off that tricky combination of brown and yellow better than any supermodel.”

Is it just me or is everything just great? Could be the new catchcry for an age of whinging. Sure, it’s written by a Pom but then they are the experts and there’s no denying that there is a lot more grizzling in the world than there was before. Maybe we all just have too much time for a moan. If we have time to moan then we have time to read books and this is the sort of thing you can dip into daily to remind yourself that life isn’t as bad as you might think.

From A for accountants to Z for zits, you can find your way through an alphabet of humour which is going to make you a lot happier than if you just settle for a good old grizzle.
